My First HTML Page

It had been a long time since I had programmed anything from scratch. The process of building an HTML page from scratch made me think back fondly to the good old days of purchasing a code magazine with my cousin, Dan, and spending hours in front of the Commodore 64 hoping that our typing errors were at a minimum. That was hard - this was easy. Once I realized the purpose of tags and how they are necessary, it all made complete sense. And, to see that my work resulted in a web page was really satisfying. I felt capable that perhaps I may actually be able to create an entire web site with more practice and study.

Changes in the Publication

As we can see already, the digital age has swept upon us and all but deleted the need for tangible written sources of any kind. I was invited to a party the other day simply by opening up an email. I wished a friend happy birthday helped by a reminder on Facebook. I registered my car online. I used Craigslist to find a guitar. I Ebayed unused school books. However, I still mail my rent by hand. I don't know if that is more a statement about technology or about me.

how email and the regular mail service are similar and how they are different

I suppose that the fact that I still have a choice about whether or not I choose to open a message is similar to the post office. The anticipation of either is similar. I love receiving emails from friends, but it still pales in comparison to the beauty and effort seen within in a postcard or hand written letter. I like that with email all that needs to be typed is a simple yes or no in some instances, and it's immediate. The regular mail service is less preferable in almost any argument simply due to the speed of email alone.
